A leisurely tour suitable for every member of the family. Beautiful landscapes of Lake Balaton, unique vantage points, the special flora and fauna of the inner lake, and the secrets of the Tihany Peninsula, all spanning 25 kilometers.
The tour is best started from the front of BalatonBike365 Port, where you'll find the largest cycling centre of BBT alongside a comfortable car park. Here, you can rent bicycles for both kids and adults according to your preferences. The recommended route involves a 400-meter elevation gain, so if your child is less accustomed to cycling, you can opt for an e-bike from the wide range of services offered at the port. Riding along the bike path connecting Balatonfüred with Tihany, we'll reach Tihany, where the first lavender field awaits us. Along our journey, we'll pass by the ruins of the Apáti Church, which is no longer in ruins. First mentioned in 1211, the village already had 74 houses by then. It was first referred to as Apáti in 1276. The church is likely from the 12th century, built in Romanesque style. It has a rectangular shape with a square chancel; its nave is wider and taller than the chancel. It used to have a wooden lord's gallery on its western side. The building, along with the village, was destroyed during the Turkish occupation. The ruins were preserved from decay with the support of the Hungarian Royal Balaton Committee and the Pannonhalma Benedictine Order in 1942 when its floor was paved. Subsequently, in 1999, based on the plans of the National Heritage Institute, the Apáti Church Ruins Restoration Foundation rebuilt it with public donations. Nowadays, it hosts masses and concerts, although many still refer to it as the Apáti ruins.
From here, our path leads alongside the Sajkod Bay, where there's an opportunity for swimming at one of Lake Balaton's most beautiful beaches. Our journey continues on the most scenic routes of the Tihany Peninsula, leading to the inner lake. The 30-hectare Inner Lake is situated in the middle of the Tihany Peninsula, 25 meters above the level of Lake Balaton. The lake owes its existence to the former volcanoes that were active here: the inner, non-draining lakes of the peninsula formed in the place of former craters. Since the 1960s, the Inner Lake has been known for its rich fish fauna and excellent fishing opportunities. You can also rent a boat on the shore and admire the magnificent view from the middle of the lake: Tihany village scattered above us with its characteristic towers of the abbey, while around us are the "mountains" of the peninsula, rising a few hundred meters.
On the way back, we follow the cycling path along the shores of the peninsula, offering a unique view of the eastern basin of Lake Balaton. On windy days, you can marvel at the hundreds of white sails dotting the water.
Könnyű túra, Sajkod után a Tihanyi félszigeten mesés meglepetéssel.
