1. Route description, explanation of signs
A short tour in the southern area of Lake Balaton with a small elevation gain. The tour is recommended for those who are not confident about cycling longer distances.
The route runs exclusively on paved roads and is therefore rideable all year round.
The tour only takes public roads in the city centre, and so can be undertaken with small children from the Baross Bridge onwards.
2. Difficulty factors in the tour
The tour can be completed by anyone, regardless of fitness or cycling ability (well, you do have to know how to ride a bike).
3. Ambience
When someone says 'Siófok', most people think of the Golden Coast (Aranypart), the busy downtown, the noise of the beaches and the nightlife. Who would have thought that only a few kilometres from downtown water birds live, a quiet fish pond hides and wonderful willows grow? The whole family can experience such wonders on the cycle path along the Sió canal: from the water tower to the water of Lake Balaton, from the Hidegvölgyi fishpond to the Sió Canal, everything is all about water and everything is possible thanks to water. The year-round rideable route leaves the city after 2 kilometres and as soon as it reaches the bridge of the M7 highway, you find yourself actually in the middle of nature. The resting place directly next to the Kossuth Bridge crossing over the Sió on the outskirts of Siójut or the surroundings of the Hidegvölgyi fishpond are ideal for a longer rest, but it is definitely worth getting off the saddle in several locations along the cycle path and enjoying the beautiful landscape. Pedal boat ahead - this time on the mainland!
