Difficulty factors
As a difficulty factor, we can actually only mention the crowding of the Balaton circle, but this is a short section of our circuit. The cycle path next to Sió is narrow, but there it's rarely to encounter cyclists.
Detailed tour description
The starting point is in the parking lot at the border of Zamárdi and Balatonszéplak, next to the Ciao Ciao Pizzeria, so easy to replenish the calories immediately after the workout. We also thought about those who arrive by train, just to be able to complete this circuit. They can join the track at Balatonszéplak Alsó station, 500 meters after the start. For road bike cyclists, the railway crossing and the gravel section in front of it may cause a little inconvenience, but they can turn left from the railway station on the old national road nr. 7 and go 500 meters to the next right turn, as long as this sign does not prohibit it. Only that section is a particularly busy main road, so we recommend the designated path. From this point the heavy traffic is not an issue for a while. From the filling station Töreki is 3 km, then turn left onto the small asphalt road. The route drives past horse stables and small farms all the way to Kiliti, from where continue on the bike path. This is a very high-quality bike path all the way to Ságvár, which – as is usually the case – loses its charm within the settlement. But don't worry, because in the centre of Ságvár you'll turn left onto the road leading to Ádánd. Some traffic can be expected here, but that's not disturbing. The situation is similar from Ádánd to Siójut, but from Siójut there is a bicycle path next to Sió. This bike path is quite narrow, and in some places the vegetation even hangs over it, but it can still be used well, since the cyclist traffinc is really low there, there is no sign of similar traffic as on the Balaton Circle. On the way, the aquatic life in the Sio canal can be look at, and then suddenly we arrive at Siófok. GPS is not needed, the signs also guide to Balaton Circle, where take a right can be return to the Széplaki starting point. The tour can be crowned either with a swim at beach, or with a lunch, a hot drink, ice cream, anything. The Golden Coast and the Silver Coast offer the opportunity for everything.
