The layers of interconnected stones of the church ruins tell the story of several centuries. They lead back to the Kál family who owned the villages in the region - their heritage is still preserved in the village names. The church from the early Middle Ages also stood here as the Turks invaded the land, and although the village was deserted for a while, it was later repopulated - and the church was put to use again. At the end of the 19th century those who went swimming to the Lake Balaton visited the place as a romantic ruin and not as a church anymore, and since then this picturesque church ruin on the side of Fekete hill has become a rest stop for hiking trips.
