Mary Victoria Hamilton was a truly remarkable woman. The wife of Tasziló Festetics did not become Princess of Monaco because she divorced her first husband. In 1880 it was scandalous, so her later life was given a lot of attention. Perhaps this is the reason why the princess was so active until her death. She and her husband enjoyed tremendously riding the carriage to the place known as Szépkilátó lookout tower today, so that they could admire the view. This region keeps preserving her memory. The Szépkilátó is a natural raised shoreline with a magnificent panoramic view of the volcanic outlier hills of the Tapolcai Basin and Lake Balaton. The location is perfect for a picnic and as a starting point for tours to the Keszthelyi Mountains (e.g. Pele Apó nature trail, Batsányi lookout tower). At the foot of the hill you will find the Roman spring, which also used to supply the former Roman villa and its bath with water.
