At the beginning of the 20th century the municipality beach area was completed on the land donated by Tasziló Festetics II to the village for this purpose. In the 1910s the landscaping of the beach was started, designed by the prince's gardener. At that time, the sycamore trees that are still preserved today were planted at the request of Lady Hamilton, the wife of Tasziló Festetics. The event area along the more than 100-year-old row of trees is the venue for a variety of events. Scheduled and excursion ships operate from the nearby harbour.
