From the middle of the 18th century the history of Keszthely and the Festetics family became one. Kristóf Festetics the First laid the foundations of the castle, which was continued to be built until the 20th century. It was a real home, where real treasures like the only intact aristocratic library in the country, the Helikon Library, the Palm House where southern plants are preserved or the carriage exhibition are to be seen.
