Introduction

The typical soil of the area, the loess is called "yellow earth" by the locals. It was used by people to form bricks, providing building material for the traditional houses in the region, and also in nature by animals to serve as their homes: the nesting places of the protected bee-eaters, making tiny holes in the thick loess walls to create hiding places.
