György Festetics I moved the family stud farm from Szenta to Fenékpuszta in 1797. From 1807 the Georgikon, founded by the count, provided training for stud masters and stablehands and worked on establishing the reputation of the Festetics stud farm. His son László Festetics brought the first Arabian horse to the Fenékpuszta stud, and his eldest son Tasziló I became the first to buy English thoroughbred horses for the family stud farm. His brother's eldest son, Tasziló II, was known as a passionate horse breeder, and the Festetics stud farm flourished during his time. His English thoroughbred racehorses won major prizes on the racetracks of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Europe. His most famous horse was Patience, winning nine out of nine races in 1904 and 1905, putting him at second place in the overall rankings behind Kincsem. Tasziló II's son, György Festetics III, continued the work of his predecessors for a successful Hungarian horse breeding and racing. An "aristocratic leisure and recreation park" is currently being developed on the grounds of the former estate. On the ground floor of the manor house, an exhibition is installed about the Festetics stud farm and horse keeping. Traditional horse keeping is still being pursued in one part of the stud farm's stable building, while the other part serves as a multi-functional community space for events and special exhibitions.
